(March 3, 2017) On March 2, in a hundred countries around the world was celebrated the first Italian Design Day: one hundred “ambassadors” of Made in Italy (designers, entrepreneurs, journalists, critics, teachers) spoke about the projects of excellence of our country. In Malaysia, through the Italian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, the Day was celebrated with an exhibition and a conference. The exhibition created by Museimpresa, titled “50+! The great game industry,” has collected 50 objects that have made the history of Italian industrial design and was presented at the Subang Jaya Taylor’s University. “Ambassador” in the Asian country was Professor Luca Fois (Milan’ Politecnico): in front of an audience of young Malaysian designers, students from universities that have joined the initiative (Taylors and UniKl), and representatives of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, business and industry representatives, the Italian professor told the story of Italian design, its evolution and the excellent projects that make Italy so famous in the world. From traditional to contemporary designs, Fois stressed the all Italian peculiarities which caused a change in perspective leading to new trends. “Design is a privileged instrument for building bridges between different cultures and traditions, its essence lies in the innovation of tradition”, said Fois during the conference.
