(March 24, 2017) “The beauty of the complexity and power of dialogue, distinctive signs of the cultural dimension of the Mediterranean, must be preserved, now more than ever, through a continuous and delicate work of weaving of relationships of knowledge, exchange and cooperation that have at their center the artistic and human expression of the people who inhabit it. With the reappearance of ghosts of separation, exclusion, segregation, to affirm the closeness between the peoples of our sea shores, the Mediterranean, through the values of equality and sharing becomes imperative”: this is how Ginella Vocca, president of MedFilm Festival, which for 23 years has been moving in this direction, continuing, with renewed strength and conviction, its internationalization activities, relationship with the peoples and cultures of the vast area stretching from the Mediterranean to the Middle East. In this context, MedFilm attends, for the ninth consecutive year, the Festival du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Tetouan, in Morocco, with a significant selection of movies and Italian guests. The link between the two initiatives is getting stronger. In particular this year Tetouan borrows from MedFilm very important activity: the Forum of the National Film Schools of the Area. Reaching like MedFilm festival its 23rd edition, the Festival du Cinéma Méditerranéen de Tetouan – from March 25 to April 1 – remains one of the most interesting events of the Maghreb cinema, led by historic artistic director Ahmed Elhousni, and dedicated to the promotion of Mediterranean quality cinema.
