Islamabad – The visit of the Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Benedetto Della Vedova to Islamabad last week was an opportunity to assess the projects of the Italian Cooperation mission in Pakistan through its participation in the conference “Italy and Karakorum: from Mt. K2 to the Central Karakorum National Park and beyond “. After the conference, the Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Stefano Pontecorvo, and the Country Director of UNDP, Ignazio Artaza, signed the agreement for the start of the second project in support of the Central Karakorum National Park (CKNP). The overall objective is the improvement of the governance system of mountain ecosystems in northern Pakistan, with a focus on ecosystem services, nature conservation, sustainable use of natural resources and the promotion of effective response to climate change. The project will help improve the livelihood of local communities, also through the development of sustainable tourism. ” (9Colonne)
