Tbilisi – Training of doctors and nurses in the field of cardiac surgery, of hemodynamics and critical care and skills development in terms of diagnostics and treatment programs for the young Georgian hospital patients with heart problems. These are the objectives of the collaboration between the Bambino Gesù Pediatric Hospital and Iashvili Children’s Central Hospital. The agreement was signed in Tbilisi (Georgia) by Mariella Enoc, president of the Hospital of the Holy Seat and Shota Joglidze, general manager of the Iashvili Hospital in Tbilisi. The meeting was attended by the Italian Ambassador in Georgia, Antonio Bartoli and Archbishop Marek Solczyński, papal nuncio to Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia. The agreement will last two years and, in addition to the training of local health workers, also provides for the transfer to Bambino Gesù of Rome of children with complex heart conditions that could not be adequately treated in local facilities. The newly formed partnership wants to respond to the strong desire of Pope Francis to demonstrate with concrete actions its proximity to the weakest. (9colonne)
