Berlin. The President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier met with Rector Eugenio Gaudio and a delegation of Sapienza students in the Academic Senate’s Hall of the Rectorate. The German President, accompanied by Ambassador Susanne Wasum-Rainer, answered questions from students on issues pertaining to Europe, immigration, new populism, and the future of Italy. The Rector recalled the Sapienza’s commitment to promoting international cooperation and the values of the University. “Frank-Walter Steinmeier’s visit underlines what links Germany’s culture and values to those that the Sapienza community identifies with – first of which is the value of research and openness to the new generations” stated the Rector.
