Amsterdam. Yet another prestigious award for the University of Milan comes from the International Liver Congress 2017 (ILC) that was held in Amsterdam during the last few days where Professor Vincenzo Mazzaferro – Professor of General Surgery at the Department of Oncology and Haematology-Oncology – Held a state of the art lecture on the treatment of liver cancer via transplantation. The International Liver Conference – annual event of the European Society for the Study of the Liver (EASL) – is a global event for those specialised in the liver and related pathologies with thousands of participants from all over the world. The state of the art lecture is, in practice, a plenary session for the exploration, updating, and sharing the latest results on a specific topic with the entire scientific community. It is held by an expert, selected annually by the Governing Board of EASL. Professor Mazzaferro, the first Italian surgeon to have held the lecture at ILL 2017, was able to present the latest work being done at Milan’s Cancer Institute on the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma.
