(10 May 2017) “Echoes of a lost voice” is the result of a twelve-year friendship between journalist Gabriella Poli and Primo Levi: a volume composed not only drawing from recorded interviews and conversations throughout the writer’s career – even in the most unthinkable places – but mostly thanks to private conversations with the author, lasting many years before his death in 1987. The book was published five years later in 1992, making it one of the first testimonies of Levi’s life and work. On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the death of Primo Levi and of the first English edition of “Echoes of a Lost Voice” by Gabriella Poli and Giorgio Calcagno, the Italian Institute of Culture in London organised a talk commemorate the great author from Turin with Carole Angier (author of a biography of Primo Levi – “The Double Bond: Primo Levi, A Biography” and the editor of “Echoes of a Lost Voice”), Robert Gordon (Professor of Italian at Cambridge University), Anthony Rudolf (Writer, translator and founder of Menard Press and the first editor of Primo Levi’s poems in English) and Sue Vice (Professor of Literature and Holocaust Studies at the University of Sheffield). The conference is on Monday, May 15 from 19:00 to 21:00. (Red)
