Dublin – Trio of Italian musicians will perform on June 16 in Dublin. The concert will present the music that was of fundamental importance in Joyce’s life and work. Ilaria Zanetti (soprano), Riccardo Rados (tenor) and Alessandra Sagelli Caoduro (piano) will be accompanied by Irish Simon Morgoan (baritone) and Noel 0’Grady (tenor). Professor John McCourt (University of Macerata) will introduce the event and illustrate the importance of areas in Joyce’s work. Thirteen compositions will be performed with particular emphasis on opera, loved by Joyce, as well as some popular melodies and chamber music. There will also be performed pieces from composer Antonio Smareglia (Joyce’s friend during his stay in Trieste, known mainly for “The Istrian Wedding”) and a rare Italian version of some areas taken by The Bohemian Girl by Balfe, directed by the same author in Venice in 1854. Organized by the Italian Institute of Culture in collaboration with the National Library of Ireland, Amici della Lirica Association “G.Viozzi” of Trieste and the Trieste Joyce School (University of Trieste) and the National Library Ireland.(9Colonne)
