Rome. “I am very happy to chair the National Council for Development Cooperation, which I would define as the” Consultative Parliament of Co-operation ” – a vital space of confrontation between the State, Regions, Local Authorities, Universities, NGOs, Chambers of Commerce, and the for-profit and non-profits”. Thus, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Angelino Alfano, opened the third meeting of the National Council for Development Cooperation. “The Co-operation System is the most noble component of foreign policy, the one most authentically animated by openness and willingness to understand each other and to seek the most significant global responses together. With this belief, in recent years, the Government has made a strategic investment on the resources allocated to Public Aid for Development. The increase in these resources recorded since 2015 is a starting point for us, because our goal is to reach the 0.7% of Gross National Income expected by the 2030 Agenda”. The CNCS gave a favourable opinion to the three-year programming and addressing document 2016-2018, which identifies 22 priority countries across different geographic areas and that takes into account the most recent migration challenges, with particular reference to Africa Fund.
