(July 21, 2017) Fifty years ago, on January 27, 1967, died Luigi Tenco, singer-songwriter member of the so-called “scuola genevose”, a group of artists including Fabrizio De André, Bruno Lauzi, Gino Paoli and Umberto Bindi, who have deeply renovated Italian pop music. His dramatic and unexpected death shocked his fans and left as a legacy a sublime, often ironic and bitter poetry, deeply influenced by Sartre existentialism of the Paris scene. Since then, a lot has been written and said about what caused the artist to take away his life, in an alternation between long silences and sudden regurgitations of morbid curiosities, which often resulted in much public and inconclusive controversy. The Italian Cultural Institute, on the anniversary of the death of Tenco, offers a tribute to his musician’s talents and his poetic sensibility presenting the Duo Radiosuccessi in Melbourne on July 27 at 18. Radiosuccessi, Ilaria Crociani(vocals) and Mirko Guerrini (piano and sax),
will present to the audience a jazz reinterpretation of Luigi Tenco’s most famous songs.
