Washington – The Ministry for Agriculture, Food, and Forestry Policy announces that Minister Maurizio Martina met with the US Administration Secretary for Agriculture, Sonny Perdue yesterday in Washington. The meeting offered the opportunity for the two countries to discuss the crucial issues such as the protection of farmers and farmers’ income in the face of the instability of markets and climate change in view of the G7 for agriculture in Bergamo on on October 14th and 15th. “The United States, despite having a radically different pattern from ours, have the need to find new means of protecting income in the face of market and environmental crises that are increasingly posing serious threats to our agricultural economies. The first Farm Bill of this administration will therefore be called upon to take on different commitments, just as we do in Europe with the new Common Agricultural Policy which must respond to concrete needs” according to Martina.
