London – What if we could rewind and restart the ribbon of evolution? Will the primordial life forms develop in the same way? And life on earth, as we know it, would be the same? For the first time, an international research involving biologists at the University of Pisa describes an evolutionary process that seems to have independently repeated itself several times in nature. The study, conducted by an international team, was published on Nature Ecology and Evolution, a new magazine for the Nature group. “The system we have studied is unique because it represents the most similar in nature to the repetition of an evolutionary event”, explains Claudia Vannini and Vittorio Boscaro of the Department of Biology at the University of Pisa.
