Oslo – Talking about Venice in Oslo and Norway in Venice tomorrow until Sunday with a three-part event organised by the Italian Institute of Culture of Oslo. The uniting thread: Giacomo Casanova, an adventurer and worldly man, but also a sophisticated intellectual, writer, translator and representative of a cosmopolitan 18th century and restless. Today, at the IIC in Oslo, a primary multidisciplinary approach to Casanova. Eighteenth-century Venice as an international cultural centre will be discussed, illustrating the Venetian fortifications in Bergamo, Peschiera, Palmanova, Sebenico, Zara, and Cattaro, recently included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site List. Casanova’s writings will be read in the three languages he used to write (Italian, French, and Venetian) and translations in English and Esperanto. (9Colonne)
