Luanda. The CEO of ENI, Claudio Descalzi and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, Carlos Saturnino signed an agreement – in Luanda in the presence of the Angolan President João Gonçalves Lourenço and the Italian Prime Minister Gentiloni – that gives ENI 48% opertaroship of the onshore Cabinda North block. The Cabinda North, of which ENI previously controlled 15% is located in the less explored oil basin in the North of the country where ENI will be able to leverage mining knowledge acquired in activities in neighboring areas in the Republic of Congo. In the case of a significant discovery, production will be facilitated by already existing infrastructure. The two companies also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to define joint projects throughout the whole value chain of the energy sector. (9colonne)
