Sarajevo. The Italian Embassy in Sarajevo announces the opening of the “Month of Italian Photography in Bosnia Herzegovina” will open Monday, April 9 the at 19:00 with the inauguration, at the History Museum of Bosnia Herzegovina, of the exhibition “Borderline – Frontiers of Peace” by Valerio Vincenzo. The or makes the Italian Embassy know in Sarajevo with a note. The exhibition will unveil to Bosnian citizens, through photos, little known border areas of several European countries, whose borders are imaginary lines immersed in nature and in the topography of the surrounding landscape. The traditional perception of borders as a place of separation gives way to an image of union and of a point of passage, common to the everyday life of millions of European Union citizens. In this perspective, the Italian Embassy confirms its support for initiatives that promote the values of gathering and cooperation. The exhibition arrives in Sarajevo after touring many European countries, including Croatia. The exhibition will be accompanied and enriched by the display, for the first time, of photos taken by the author last summer in unsuspected border areas between Bosnia and Herzegovina and neighbouring countries. “Borderline” will be the first of a series of photographic initiatives that the Embassy will promote throughout the month of April. As an example of this, photographer Valerio Vincenzo, will meet students from Sarajevo universities and academies to talk about, starting with his work, how a professional photographer’s project was developed, within a broader debate on the meaning of borders in contemporary society also in view of the European perspective of the Balkans.
