(2 may 2018) The Ateneum Art Museum di Helsinki, in collaboration with the Italian Insitute of Culture, has set up the exhibition “Fantastico!” that retraces the development of magic realism through a selection of paintings from private and public collections. The exhibition will be open from May 10th until August 19th, from 10:00 to 17:00 at the Ateneum Art Museum. Coined by the critic, Franz Roh in a famous essay on contemporary painting (1925), the definition of “Magic Realism” is an international artistic movement whose most creative and original phase spanned from he 1920s until the 1930s. It follows the avant garde movements and is characterised by the return to traditional painting and sculpture.
