Berlin. On the occasion of the First week of Italian cinema in the world (May 21 to 27), Berlin pays tribute to Pietro Germi. Actor, screenwriter, producer, and film director, Germi was one of the great masters of Italian cinema between the 1940s and 1970s. His works led him to be considered one of the most important exponents of “commedia all’italiana” – an expression inspired by the title of one of his films “Divorzio all’italiana” (1961). From the second half of May, the Arsenal Cinema – Institut für Film und Videokunst, in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture Berlin, will screen eleven masterpieces by Germi between 1948 and 1972, property of Cinecittà Luce and the National Film Library of Rome. The film screenings will take place on Friday 18th until Thursday May 31st. (9Colonne)
