Berlin. Tomorrow, under the purview of the Italian Institute of Culture in Berlin, there will be a week of events dedicated to Michelangelo Pistoletto, with a site-specific installation, an exhibition, a film screening, and two events. The artist will be present at all events. Pistoletto (born in Biella in 1933) is considered one of the forerunners, as well as one of the leading exponents of Arte Povera. His works during the last fifty years particularly reflect the changes in society, politics, and art. The central aspect of his work and of his theoretical and philosophical reflections is the desire to combine art, society, and everyday life. Another characteristic feature of his work is represented by the active participation of the public. The artist has participated in four editions of Kassel Documenta (1968, 1992, 1997, 2002). In 2003, he was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale and in 2004, the University of Turin awarded him with an honorary degree in Political Science. (9Colonne)
