Berlin. “Napoli Velata” (Naples in Veils) (2017) by Ferzan Ozpetek will be released in German cinemas on August 16th. In Naples, suspended between magic and superstition, madness and rationality, a mystery absorbs Adriana’s existence (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) overwhelmed by a sudden love affair and a violent crime. One evening at a party Adriana crosses the seductive and provocative looks of Andrea (Alessandro Borghi), an attractive and confident young man. She can’t escape the sensual skirmish and the two spend the night together. But it doesn’t seem to end there. They decide to meet the day after. A strong feeling rapidly grows in her, perhaps it’s the beginning of a great love that could change her life. The turning point arrives, but it’s not what she expected. The situation deteriorates when she is dragged into a crime and a disturbing investigation. A jolt that can undermine every certainty. Without the possibility of escape, she involuntarily slips onto a path within the most secret shadows of her personality. (9Colonne)
