Washington – A celebration of women’s contribution to art. This is the theme of an event taking place on November 20th, dedicated to the exhibition “The Poetry of Mark-Making” on the Italian artist Bice Lazzari, at the prestigious Phillips Collection in Washington. The exhibition, open to the public until February 24th, 2019 also focuses on the donation of four works by the Italian artist to the Phillips Collection thanks to the Bice Lazzari Archive. As highlighted in the introduction to the exhibition catalogue written by Dorothy Kosinksi, Director of the Phillips Collection, “Bice Lazzari is one of the most innovative abstract painters of the twentieth century and I am honored that her works are admired by more and more people”. “Bice Lazzari’s path represents a precise and solitary search for new codes, new forms of expression and language”, said the Ambassador of Italy in the USA Armando Varricchio during the event. “I am pleased that this Venetian artist is getting a well-deserved international recognition at the most prestigious galleries, from London to Washington.”
