(Feb. 3) – “In times when Countries are struggling to survive the new threats chasing them, where today’s friend can become tomorrow’s enemy, where new forms of terrorism exposes Countries to risks and dangers, we couldn’t do without intelligence”. So speaks Antonella Colonna Vilasi, first European author to have published a trilogy on intelligence topic, acclaimed in major European universities. After a tour in major Italian universities, she has been called to give lectures in Tirana and London, and will make a stop in Paris, Barcelona and Madrid in April. Her “Manuale di Intelligence” (Intelligence Handbook) explores the purposes of Intelligence in modern Western democracies: “The introduction – explains the author – is curated by Stefano Folli, the preface by the Director of French External Security, Pierre Lacoste, and an interview with Alfred Bellows, former director of SISDE Analysis Office, completes the work”. “In Italy, within our universities, there is no chair about Intelligence as abroad, and i know it because I teach in Albania, Switzerland and United States. What I noticed is that, in recent years, the interest in criminology is increasingly growing among young people. But very few women are dealing with Intelligence”. “Students – continues the author – are really into cybernetic attacks. Today young people are very curious and eager to understand the mechanisms of contemporary Intelligence, the new threats and new challenges, past and present terrorism”. “In a globalized evolving world – adds the writer, born in Civita Castellana, in the province of Viterbo – the Countries are facing new threats and needs a new way to pursue security”. Colonna Vilasi is currently being published in France with the book “The intelligence aux enfants expliquée”: “The tour I’m doing in the various european universities is definitely an important experience. Today when we think about Intelligence – the author concludes – we think about something dark and mysterious, having in mind the popular James Bond. It’s a phenomenon that is often misunderstood, however. Behind what is commonly called ‘Intelligence’ there is a more complex world, a ‘systems’ system’ that is indispensable for the security of a Country”. (red)
