(Mar. 21) – Two years ago, in occasion of the Shanghai Expo 2010, La Triennale di Milano, on behalf of the Commissioner General of the Italian Government for the World Expo Shanghai 2010, realized the exhibition “La città dell’uomo, Vivere all’Italiana”, which recorded 10 million visitors, making it the second most visited pavilion of that edition. Then the Italian government donated the Italian Pavilion to the Republic of China government, with the agreement that the pavilion itself would remain in its current location and serve as a center of cultural and business exchange between the two countries. So the Italian pavilion will be the fulcrum of the Italian center Shanghai, managed by La Triennale di Milano and the Shanghai Expo Group. The first exhibition, entitled “Tradition and Innovation”, will take place from March 24 until 31 January 2013 and will be an opportunity to present to the Chinese art, crafts, fashion, design and technology from Italy. Edited by David Rampello and Studio Cerri & Associati, the exhibition will be divided into seven sections: le icone d’Italia, gli ori d’Italia, l’Italia riscoperta: modernità ecologica e sostenibile, la cultura del cibo, dalla Cina all’Italia: Venezia e l’Oriente, la piazza della Gioia and la penisola della Luce.
