(Apr. 6) – The Dutch town of Venlo will host Floriade 2012 from April to October. The international horticultural exhibition is a manifestation with a long-established tradition and it is one of the most important events in the sector. The event brings together more than 50 countries and it will be attended by two and a half million visitors. The Italian Pavilion, which opened yesterday, was designed and implemented through a call launched by Trentino Development, and has received the Arca certification for wood products and buildings. Inside the exhibition there will be a space for the promotion of technology, production, trade and tourism from Trentino. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be attended by the government commissioner for expos in Yeosu and Venlo, Ambassador Claudio Moreno, the Italian Ambassador in The Hague Francesco Azzarello, the president of the Bureau International des Expositions Ferdinand Nagy and Commissioner General of Floriade 2012 Dzsingisz Gabor. For Italy it will be a debut: despite his green tradition it will be its first participation. “The Italian Pavilion in Venlo – said Ambassador Moreno – is the result of collaboration between central government, individual regions and local bodies. A special thanks goes to the Autonomous Province of Trento which represents the excellence of Made in Italy in the field of sustainable construction and new design.” (Gil/Peg)
