(Apr. 10) – A new social network that helps bands and musicians find gigs to play. It was launched at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, the club owned by Johnny Depp, and it’s called SplitGigs.com. The project has an Italian ID, conceived by three guys from Bergamo, Sem, Michele and Marcello. If a band from Rome has the chance to play in its city, it can not always find the right contacts to organize a concert in Milan or in Florence. And here SplitGigs steps in, connecting the band from Rome with another one from a different city and laying the foundation for an exchange of gigs. “I let your band play at my gig, then you return the favor by letting my band play at your gig. Both bands end up with an extra gig: another opportunity to get their music heard”, as SplitGigs.com says. Another opportunity to get their music heard . At that point the two bands are in touch and have the chance to share the stage. And each band or musician can multiply the tips of other bands. SplitGigs gives the bands a profile that will be shared with managers and local promoter, bypassing the rigmarole of sending emails, calling the clubs, sending links or mp3 that nobody will listen.
