(Apr. 13) – Michael Schumacher finished quickest in the second 90-minute session at the Shangai International Circuit, theatre of next F1 Gran Prix . Mercedes’ Schumacher finished first (1’35″973), ahead of McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton (1’36″145) and the Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel (1’36″160). The best of the two Ferrari was the Alonso’s one, who topped the timesheet in 1’37″316, while the other F2012, drove by Felipe Massa, reached the 17th position (1’38″293). The Chinese GP is pre-announced very hard for both Ferrari, which completed the usual Friday program testing two different compounds – Pirelli medium and soft – and with full fuel load. “It was a normal Friday,” said Fernando Alonso “based mainly on evaluating new aerodynamic parts in FP1 and on the usual tyre tests in FP2. As always, we tried to work out which would be the fastest compound to use in qualifying and which would be the most consistent over a long run. We definitely lack a bit of performance: we will try and find it for tomorrow, as well as trying to sort out the balance of the car, especially in terms of its grip. There’s a lot to do if we want to have a good qualifying.” (Sis/Peg)
