(May 17) – Italy steps forward in the renewable energy technology. The Research and Development laboratory of Italian P.Energy, in collaboration with the Swedish company MidSummer AB, has developed a new generation solar module entirely made with recyclable.
Since 2002 P.Energy aims to promote the worldwide diffusion of the photovoltaic technology and to boost the growth of the PV global Industry and R&D. The work with Swedish MidSummer AB, a company that makes thin film Copper indium gallium selenide (CIGS) solar cells on small substrates, goes in that direction.
A single panel is composed by a double glass 2mm thick, a thermoplastic film, a stainless steel solar cells, aluminum frames and a junction box, all of them made with 100% recyclable materials. So, for the first time, a solar module is realized without silicon or EVA. To assembly the panel, it has also been designed and produced a series of machineries suitable for the production of the “green solar cells”, made with CIGS modules. The CIGS is a semi-conductor without acetic acid so, at the end of the solar cell’s life period, it can be opened and all the materials inside – glass, aluminum or other metals – can be recycled.
The Collaboration between P.Energy and Midsummer started in 2010 and is aimed to the supply of full production turn-key line of 5-10MW the from the cell to the module, totally independent from the oscillation of the silicon. (Red)
