(May 29) Music and solidarity brings together Italy’s Salerno and Zhodino, a small town in Belarus. A piano and a working music schoolroom are the last gifts from the Italian city, as part of a project of the association “Salerno Accoglie”, organized by Concerti d’Estate from Villa Guariglia and sponsored by the Province of Salerno and the Municipality of Vietri sul Mare. The purchase of the piano has been possible thanks to funds raised during a concert organized last year by Tonia Willburger. The piano will be place in the new music schoolroom dedicated to Paola Galdi, pianist, teacher and director of children’s choir who died prematurely last year. The association “Salerno Accoglie” is also carrying out a a project called “Adotta un Istituto” (Adopt a school), which aims to help Byelorussian schools. (Gil/Peg)
