(Jun 4th) – The “Russian Campaign” of the Italian wine continues. According to data provided by ISTAT,in 2011 bottles made in Italy reached an export turnover of over 118 million euros, +83% if compared to the 2009-2011 period. Positive figures on the eve of “Simply Italian – Solo Italiano”, the international wine event branded IEM (International Exhibition Management), which opens tomorrow at the New Manage in Moscow and will continue in St. Petersburg from June 7th. “Quality ” explains Marina Nedić, Managing Director of IEM, “is the key to Made in Italy success in this market, which accounted for over 75.5 million liters in 2011, an increase by 9% if compared to 2009, but down 30% compared to 2010. The decrease is due in part to a reduction in the volume of wine imported in bulk. The contraction in volume is paired with the rise in the value (the average price per liter of Italian wine exports to Russia grew by over 60% in 2011) which highlights the need for continuing investment and a projecting presence.”. “In Russia,” Nedić concludes, “we created an innovative format organized by production areas with specific focus and tastings dedicated to wine from Southern Italy, Veneto region and Instituto Grandi Marchi.” (Cle/Peg)
