(Jun. 7th) – Yesterday in Moscow, at the HQ of the Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives led by Svetlana Mevedeva, wife of the President of Russia, it has been presented “Focus Russia” (Russian Focus), a section in the program at the 58th edition of the TaorminaFilmFest, this year especially focused on Russian film productions of the last years. “The decision to create a space for the Russian cinema, in one of the most important festivals of the film industry, is the proper recognition to a country that in recent years has regained the role it always played in the history of cinema,” said Mario Sesti, TaorminaFilmFest editorial director. “The Russian cinema has extraordinary personalities, great actors, the power of language and a continuous narrative experimentation. I think we laid the foundations for a genuine partnership that will bring our festival in Moscow,” concluded Sesti. During the TaorminaFilmFest there will be a meeting dedicated to the Soviet cinema, at the presence of the directors attending the festival and the actress Xenia Rappoport, who will present her new film “Yuriev Den” by Kirill Serebrennikov. In addition to international premieres, the festival will present “Campus Taormina” and “Tao Class”, a chance for the public to meet their favorite movie stars. The first event will feature the stars from “Sex and the City” and Jason Lewis from “Brothers & Sisters”. (Red)
