(Jun. 14) – The best things always come from a group of friends, and so did the non-profit cultural association “Irlanda Italiana” (IICA), founded in Cork in October 2011 from a group of Italian friends who passionately enjoy living in Ireland, willing to share with the Irish community some of the best Italian traditions. With the support of the Italian Embassy in Ireland and the Italian Cultural Institute, tomorrow afternoon the association will present the results obtained so far to local institutions. The mission of IICA is dedicated to promoting and celebrating the Italian culture through all the media, through partnership collaborations with Italian and Irish cultural institutions and proudly organizing live events, with the support of members and promoters of “Irlanda Italiana”. The first event took place the 15th December 2011 in the Aula Maxima of the University College Cork, in collaboration with UCC Department of Italian School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures. Open to everyone willing to deepen their knowledge of the “Italian food and wine tradition”, this event gave the possibility to its participants to learn more about the extraordinary delicious differences that Italy’s 20 regions can offer in the culinary tradition. On 18th February 2012 a second event took place at the Triskel Arts Centre in Cork. “Irlanda Italiana” celebrated in that occasion the tradition of “The Italian Carnival” with its joyful atmosphere dedicated to families and kids. “Irlanda Italiana” proudly took also part to the 2012 Cork St. Patrick’s Parade and, on 31st March 2012, IICA in collaboration with the Triskel Arts Centre in Cork, organized the first “Italy on screen – Italian film event” to promote the Italian culture also through the “seventh art”.
