(Jul. 13) – Gianmaria Testa is one of the most prominent Italian singers and songwriters. He has often been associated with Paolo Conte because of their similar, gruff-sounding voices and Piedmontese origins. He has developed and established a very original style, which mixes jazz and acoustic atmospheres with poetical and socially committed lyrics. He has never performed in the UK and tomorrow he will be on show at the Reading University for a free-entry concert. The programme would include songs from his latest albums “Vita mia” and especially from “Da questa parte del mare” , a concept album about migrants and displaced people, nominated Best 2007 Italian Album by the “Tenco Prize” international jury. The performance will be part of a conference organized by Reading University’s Italian Studies together with the Italian Consulate General and the Embassy of Italy in London. (Red)
