(Jul. 19) – “Finally the Italian international politics pays again attention to Burkina Faso. In fact, the re-opening of the Ouagadougou Local Technical Unit of the Directorate General for Development Cooperation seems to be just a question of time.” So says a note from the FOCSIV – Federazione organismi cristiani servizio internazionale volontario (Federation of Christian Orgnizations and International Voluntary Service). “We look with particular interest how Italian policy is working in Burkina Faso,” said Gianfranco Cattai, President of the FOCSIV, “and we are quite sure of the strategic role that this relations could play in the international scenario, especially in contrast to the spread of international Islamic terrorism. The upcoming visit of the Minister for International Cooperation and Integration Andrea Riccardi and the Burkina Faso contribution to the release of Rossella Urru, and before of Sandra Maria Mariani kidnapped in Algeria, are further proof of how it is increasing the quality of cooperation with Burkina Faso.” Present in the territory since the early ’70s with a significant number of organizations, today the FOCSIV is deeply rooted in many areas of Burkina Faso. “The 40-years experience we have in the country allows us to contribute to the new course of these relationships,” concluded Cattai.
