(Jul. 27) – A market that is set to grow exponentially over the medium and long term. Enel Green Power will confirm its leadership by using an energy mix that is technologically and geographically diversified. Over the next few years renewable capacity will rapidly grow, and the overall production will increase by over 40%: these predictions are contained in the new report from the International Energy Agency, “Medium-Term Renewable Energy Market Report 2012”. The report estimates that by 2017 renewable energy production at a global level will amount to almost 6.400 TWh, thanks to hydroelectric, wind, bioenergy and solar photovoltaics, set to prevail on the energy market over the next five years. In the long term, in a complex scenario which is strongly dependent on fossil fuels, significant growth rates are foreseen for green energy at a global level, especially for wind and solar photovoltaics. Generally speaking, the entire renewable sector is expected to grow at a fast pace, so that the installed capacity from renewables will grow from 1,253 GW in 2009 to more than 3,600 GW in 2035. A trend in which Enel Green Power will participate and is already participating with a leading role at a global level, planning on further increasing its plants, already diversified in technological and geographical terms.
