(Aug. 14) The Italian Cultural Center of Cordoba, in Argentina, is organizing a 3-day event around Michela Murgia’s book, “Viaggio in Sardegna”, literally “Travels through Sardinia”. On August 16, at 7pm, a first seminar will take place, on the topic: “Travels through Sardinia: exploring the island and Michela Murgia’s writings”. The author, along Andrea Luca Lepore, General Consul of Italy in Cordoba, Antonella Tinti and Silvia Cattoni, of the National University of Cordoba, and Salvatorica Puggioni, with the Italian foreign affairs ministry, will be present. The main talking point will be Sardinia, a region, explains Michela Murgia, “where you can apparently conquer land, yet there is something unobtainable about it, maintaining the mystery typical of those things that are barely understood.” The author continues, “I was born on this island, and even though I have traveled the world and lived elsewhere, I never abandoned it. I dream of it as my home, an independent piece of land.” Finally, Murgia claims, “I graduated from a technical school, then I studied theology, yet I am not a theologist to the same degree that studying philosophy makes you a philosopher. I don’t like being called ‘young’ – at 37, I think people have the right to be called adults.”
