(Aug. 22) Last year, on May 11, his favorite student, Domenico Fioravanti, winner of two gold medals at the Sydney Olympic Games, made it to the International Swimming Hall of Fame (Ishof). In 2013, it will be his turn: the late Alberto Castagnetti. Considered the “master of the Italian swim-team”, his name will be officially inscribed in the ISHOF headquarters of Fort Lauderdale in Florida, on May 11 2013. Paolo Barelli, president of the Italian Swimming Federation, says, “It is wonderful news, another international acknowledgment of Castagnetti’s unique value as a coach and a testament to his amazing personality. He helped found the Centro Federale of Verona, where Castagnetti trained the best Italian swimmers, including Giorgio Lamberti, Domenico Fioravanti, Federica Pellegrini and Emiliano Brembilla. His style is a constant inspiration for all trainers, and his expertise, as well as his personality and joie de vivre, were always the best cure to any argument.”
