(Aug. 23) Roma Fiumicino is soon to be connected by Alitalia to Abu Dhabi. From December 1, Alitalia, in collaboration with Etihad Airways, adds its 68th international destination, alongside New York, Boston, Miami, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Toronto, Tokyo, Osaka, Rio de Janeiro and Beijing. It is estimated that two million passengers travel from Italy to Abu Dhabi each year, and from there to other international destinations. Provided Alitalia will be granted all governmental authorizations, it will be connected to Australia, Thailand, Oman, Bahrain and South Africa. Four times a week, it will be possible to fly from Rome to Abu Dhabi with the new A330 Airbus, introducing new flying coaches: Magnifica, Business, Classica Plus, Premium Economy, Classica and Economy. The code-share between Alitalia and Etihad Airways will put in common the flying codes for specific flights. Specifically, Alitalia will have its usual AZ code on Etihad flights from Abu Dhabi to Bahrain, Muscat, Johannesburg, Bangkok, Melbourne and Sydney, while Etihad will have its own EY for flights from Rome towards Venice, Zurich, Frankfurt, Monaco, Geneva and Athens.
