(Aug. 24) Two youth groups from Trentino, the orchestra “Fuori Tempo” from Villazzanno and the theater association “Portland” from Trento, have partnered up in a peace mission with the Jewish, Muslim, Druze and Christian group, “Arcobaleno”, of the “Beresheet LaShalom”
Foundation, and the “Lauda” ensemble of Nazareth’s Jezreel Valley. The Italians were hosted in the Sasa kibbutz, Galilee, where a live lab was set up to unite theater and music in a play named “Tu cresci con la musica” (you grow up with music), which already enchanted Maalot-Tarshiha’s public. The two Israeli-Palestinian music groups had already visited Trentino in May of last year. Their performance was highly appreciated then, just as it is now in their hometown. Indeed, the vice-mayor of border-town Maalot-Tarshiha recalled how important it is that today the sound of music and children acting fills our ears, when just six years prior to this jolly event, bombs from Lebanon menaced the city. “300 rockets killed Arabs and Jews indistinctly – and this partnership and the coming of these young people from Trentino is very important to us, it gives us the strength to move forward.”
