(Sept. 13) – “With 270 MW of wind power distributed in 5 wind farms, Enel Green Power is presently one of the major renewable producers on the Romanian market”, said Roberto Deambrogio, Head of Italy and at Enel Green Power. Only in 2011, Enel Green Power Romania (EGPR) installed 200 MW, with another 200 MW planned in 2012: with almost 500 MW, Enel Green Power will confirm its role as one of the first two operators in Romania. One of the recent achievements of EGP in Romania is the Salbatica II plant near Tulcea, north of Dobrogea: with a capacity of 70 MW and 35, 2 MW 100 meters high turbines, it ensures an annual production of 200 GWh, about 3,000 hours of production that can save 140,000 TOE (tons of oil equivalent) per year. The most recent grid-connected plant managed by Enel Green Power Romania is the Moldova Nouawind farm, in the region of Banat, in Romania. The plant, which consists of 21, 2,3 MW SWT turbines, totaling an installed capacity of 48 MW, can produce, once completed, about 130 million kWh per year, saving more than 70,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions. Presently Romania is one of the most appealing countries for renewable investments in Europe, especially for wind, a source that the Government expects to increase by about 4,000 MW by 2020. Indeed, this country has favorable wind conditions and a highly dynamic market, with 20 million inhabitants whose energy consumption is still relatively low. (red)
