Oct. 4 – Elisa di Francisca, gold medal at the 2012 Olympics, has decided to join Intervita to help underprivileged children from third world countries. “I want to go to Africa – said Elisa earlier this August – because I have had so much out of life and I believe it’s time to give something back.” Elisa di Francisca will leave Italy for Kenya in mid-October with Intervita, an independent and secular NGO focused on cooperation development. A statement out of the main organization states, “Elisa is an incredibly positive person, who expressed her emotions in a direct and sincere manner. We can’t wait to introduce her to our projects, our credo and the children we help. We are positive she will have an important experience with us, and we hope to maintain the relationship for a long period of time.”
