Oct. 4 – Med in Italy comes back home after winning third place in the Solar Decathlon Europe 2012, Madrid’s bio-architecture world competition. The journey home is emblematic of Med in Italy’s way of thinking, taking advantage of intermodal transport and eco-friendly homes. The choice to travel by train for over 4.000 km, instead of by plane, allowed a 5-ton reduction in CO2 emissions. Indeed, Med in Italy was able to prove its worthiness and, thanks to the Sapienza and Roma Tre project, Italy was for the first time among the finalists in the competition. In fact, the decision to use specific technical competences, combined with natural reusable materials, and with the decision to transport the product by train, allowed Italy to be placed in front of China, Brazil and Denmark.
