(Oct. 5) The Acampo Hospital wind park, in Saragossa (Aragon), is now connected to Enel’s Green Power Spain grid. The power plant has an installed capacity of 5.4MW, and will produce over 19 million kWh per year. The clean energy will be provided by three 1.8 MW turbines, which will result in a reduction of 14 thousand CO2 emissions for Acampo Hospital, saving 7 thousand tons of oil equivalent. The project is part of the International Expo Zaragoza 2008 that focuses on water sustainability. To achieve said goal, various proposals were put forth, and Enel Green Power Spain focused on what would become the Acampo wind park establishment. The plant, one of the latest present in the company’s preregister, adds on the 275MW of renewable capacity already supported by Enel Green Power in the Aragon community, and on the 1.828 MW total for Spain and Portugal. The cooperation in these two countries is possible thanks to Enel Green Power Spain (EGPE), of which 60% is owned by Enel Green Power and 40% by Endesa.
