(Oct. 5) Italian cinema will be the main protagonist of Ventana Sur’s open day on December 4. Ventata Sur is the most important event in the South American cinema business and will take place from November 30 to December 3, in Buenos Aires. The event is organized by the Marché du Film of Cannes, and Incaa. In the past four years, the event has had more than 1800 participants, and 300 distributors from all continents. This year, for the first time, the production will host an event on foreign cinema, including a series of screenings. The theme this year will be Italian cinema, fact that is supported by UNEFA, ICE and the General Direction of MIBAC Cinema. “The peculiarity of the initiative is in its offering of specific, recent Italian films to a broad audience from an entire continent” says Roberto Cicutto, administrator of the Istituto Luce-Cinecittà. Cicutto continues, “there are many successful cinema markets out there, but this monothematic offer, in a national sense, is a new experience that we hope to export to other macroregions of the world.”
