Oct. 23 – Magneti Marelli is a pioneer in flex technology and today it celebrates the historic success in the automotive Brazilian market: over 10 million vehicles have been equipped with its SFS – Software Flexfuel Sensor. This effectively means that, between 2003 and 2011, almost 67% of the total 15 million cars running on biofuels sold in Brazil, hold the technology in them. This data is supplied by ANFAVEA, the National Association For Auto Vehicles Producers. During this period, biofuel cars have become the majority of sold vehicles in the country, and currently represent 83% of total sales. Furthermore, between January and June 2012, 1.402.672 units have been sold. “By using this technology, – says a note from Magneti Marelli – the consumer has the possibility to choose which fuel yields the highest benefits for his/hers particular situation. For example, ethanol (alcohol) is a valid alternative to petrol.” Magneti Marelli has been active in Brazil since 1978, and currently has 8.500 employees in the country in various research centers – in Minas Gerais (Contagem, Itaùna and Lavras) and Sao Paolo (Amparo, Hortolandia, Mauà, and Santo André) and numerous commercial bases in other cities (Curitiba, Goiania, Recife, Rio, and Sao Paolo).
