Nov. 23 – “Congratulations to director Andrea Segre and thanks to the euro-parliamentarian Lorenzo Fontana of the Cultural Committee of the European Parliament and to all those in Venice and in Europe that have been working hard to achieve this important recognition,” says governor Luca Zaia upon bestowing the award for the feature film “Io sono Li” to the director Andrea Segre. Born in 1976 in Dolo, he received the “Lux” Film Prize by the European Parliament. The film, produced by Jole film of Padua, has been funded with support from the Veneto Region in 2010. “It’s a result – added Zaia – that rewards our region twice, because it celebrates the talent of our artists and it confirms once again the vision and the attention of the region in the use of public funds. The theme treated in the plot, the integration of foreign communities, especially the Chinese one, is difficult and delicate topic and it must be addressed not only in terms of legality and acceptance, but also in terms of cultural production. The LUX Prize is a confirmation of the quality of our work, and would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that Veneto is the region with the highest numbers of legal immigration in Italy.”
