Nov. 26 – Until 14 January, the Jacquemart-André Museum in Paris will host the exhibition “Canaletto et Look, les deux maitres de Venise”. For the first time in the French capital, eight paintings by Canaletto from the Royal Collection in London will be shown. The Royal Collection has the most important collection of works by the great Venetian artist thanks to an outstanding loan granted by Queen Elizabeth II. On display there are a total of 60 works, including 20 from Canaletto, 2 by Francesco Guardi and 6 of Bernardo Bellotto as well as a dozen drawings from the National Gallery in London, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid, dall’Alte Pinakothek of Monaco, the Louvre, Frick Collection in New York, the Museum of Budapest Szépművészeti and the Musée des Beaux Arts in Grenoble. France hadn’t organized an exhibition on the great age of landscape painting since 1961.
