Dec. 10 – The Italian mission in Peru starts today, involving 41 companies led by Confindustria, ICE, Ance, the Club of 15 and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Economic Development. The objective is to work on the infrastructure projects put forth by the Peruvian government, for a total cost of $20 billion until 2016. Ports, railways, roads and hydroelectric plants are being promoted by Lima in the race for renewable energy and hydroelectric projects. The Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, Marta Dassù accompanies the Italian businesses, which will meet with the Minister for Foreign Trade of Peru, Luis Silva Martinot. The Italian presence in Peru today is very limited, as Italian products represent less than 2% of Peruvian imports, and the Italian presence in the country sees no more than 40 companies involved. The Italian delegation in Peru now uses the trade agreement between the EU and the Andean Community but trade should grow over the next year, starting from 2013 when, according to European Commission, private investment will grow by almost 9% in Europe.
