Dec. 17 – An important cooperation agreement between the State Key Laboratory for Disaster Reduction of Civil Engineering of the University of Shanghai Tongii and the Laboratory TreesLab Foundation Eucentre of Pavia was signed a few days ago in the field of earthquake engineering. The agreement, which took place on the sidelines of the Fifth Kwang-Hua Forum Implementations and Innovations in Earthquake Engineering Research, held this week in Shanghai, brings together these leading research laboratories in earthquake engineering. The aim is to identify common test protocols between the two laboratories, in order to facilitate the entry in the Chinese market of western companies that tested their products at the Eucentre Foundation and vice versa. Another goal is to recognize the tests carried out in Shanghai between western contracting authorities and eastern companies. Covered by the agreement is also a series of joint research activities in the area of seismic risk reduction, researchers’ and technical staff exchanges involved in experimental research, advanced training courses for the staff of the respective laboratories, workshops and conferences, and a joint exchange of technical information through the publication of scientific articles and books.
