Jan. 1 – Saturday, January 26, in the Roman Orion Club, Alex Britti will play the guitar alongside Mel Gaynor and Ged Grimes, respectively drummer and bassist of the band Simple Minds, in a concert to celebrate Jimi Hendrix. The Orion Club event is currently the only Italian date scheduled, but the group will tour Europe together in the autumn of next year. Without a doubt, Hendrix is a myth for all guitarists: for those who play the acoustic or the electric version, for those who love funk, blues or r & b, and for those who tune their guitar a semitone lower or in the traditional tune. Mel Gaynor, Ged Grimes and Alex Britti belong to this category of people, and because neither Simple Minds nor Britti are currently on tour, Mel persuaded Ged and Alex to rock the European stages to the sound of Hey Joe, Foxy Lady, Purple Haze, Crosstown Traffic, Voodoo Child and Little Wing? That’s Freedom.
