Feb. 25 – One of the main outlets for the Italian wood and furniture industry is the U.S. market, with a turnover of €700 million per year.
To consolidate the presence of Italian companies in this market, the Ministry of Economic Development, under the program of extraordinary promotion of Made in Italy in the United States, has launched a project for the promotion of the wood furniture made in Italy in North America. With the help of FederlegnoArredo, the project requires the involvement of the most prestigious Americans architectural and interior design firms. The ministry, through FederlegnoArredo, will organize a competition called “Emerge Italy,” aimed at young designers employed by North American firms that follow international projects, particularly in the Persian Gulf, Russia, China, India, Singapore, South Africa and Mexico. “Emerge Italy” will lead to the creation of new products designed specifically for Italian companies in the lighting sector, office, kitchen, bathroom, living room, bedroom and interior. “With this initiative – says Roberto Snaidero, President of FederlegnoArredo – we add a new important step to the journey that the Federation started two years ago which aims to grow the share of exports in a market that is increasingly attracted by the Italian style, especially among the younger generations.” An additional partner of Ministry of Economic Development and FederlegnoArredo will be the American associations AIA and IIDA, both extensively present in the territory. The project will also be carried out with the support of the ICE Agency and IACC Chicago (the Italian American Chamber of Commerce of Chicago).
