(Mar 26th) – Waiting for the summer solstice, MedFilm sets out for the South again, in the direction of Morocco, in order to join a wonderful and interesting selection of Italian cinema on the occasion of the 19th Festival of Mediterranean Cinema in Tetouan, which will take place from the 23rd to the 30th of March. Now on its 19th edition like the MedFilmfestival, the Festival of Tétouan, symbolic city of the Northern Morocco for its architectural and cultural mix of Arabian, Berber and Spanich features, is one of the most vital and important events of cinema in Maghreb, consecrated exclusively to the promotion of Mediterranean cinema, under the excellent direction of Ahmed Elhousni as well as under the protection of the President Nabil Benabdellah, ex Ambassador of Morocco in Rome and current Minister of Municipalities. Along with the Italians films in the Official Competition as well as in the Panorama section, this year the programme of the festival dedicates a Tribute to Paolo and Vittorio Taviani by showing their film ‘Cesare deve morire’, as special event of the closing evening. The Days of Italian Cinema in Morocco, a project conceived by MedFilmfestival, are a representative event of the protocol of Intentions signed by the President of MEDFILMfestival Ginella Vocca and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Culture of Morocco Belardi Redouane, aimed at promoting Italian cinema in a country which is such decisive in the Mediterranean audiovisual market as Morocco.
